The sizes and coverage are approximate. We encourage you to visit our garden center to view the actual stone. Elliott’s Garden Center will deliver to your home or job site. Decorative Stone Mulches, Sands, and Gravels are sold per ton. Amounts under one ton are pro-rated. There is a minimum loading purchase of $25. Cost of Decorative Stone Mulch is subject to change due to fuel surcharges that we incur. Call ahead for availability of Decorative Stone Mulches when you are ready to pick up or schedule a delivery. Decorative Stone Mulches are washed by the quarries that produce the stone, but there may be film or sediment covering the rocks. The size listed for Decorative Stone Mulches is approximate and may vary.

  • Step One

    To calculate how much decorative stone mulch you will need for your project you will first need to find the total amount of square feet that needs covered.

    Rectangular areas are measured by multiplying the length times the width. (Example) Length 4' x Width 5' = 20 square feet.

    Circles are measured by multiplying the radius (half the diameter) by itself, and multiplying that by pi (3.14).  (Example) Radius 3' x 3' = 9 square feet x 3.14 = 28.26 square feet.

    Triangles are measured by multiplying the length times the width then dividing that product in half.  (Example) Length 4' x Width 5' = 20 square feet x .5 = 10 square feet

  • Step Two

    Next select your decorative stone.  Divide the total square feet that you would like to cover by the yield per ton that your selected decorative stone mulch will cover.

    Example 600 square feet needs covered with Mojave Red Small 1."  Small Mojave 1" has a yield of 90 square feet per ton.

    600 / 90 = 6.7 tons of Mojave Small 1"
